Members of Austin Rum Society are encouraged to enter the Don Q Cocktail Competition. Each contestant will receive Don Q swag for their efforts and the grand prize winner will get a special premium bottle of Don Q rum.
::: Rules :::
-Each contestant may submit one unique, originally named cocktail featuring at least one ounce of a Don Q product (Cristal, Gold, 151 and/or 7 year recommended). Other rum brands may be used in conjunction, but Don Q should be the dominant and highlighted spirit.
-All mixers and modifiers should be commercially available as your recipe may be published by Don Q or shared with others in the group to recreate at home. If your cocktail utilizes homemade syrups, please recommend comparable commercially available options that can closely replicate the flavor. If using any obscure/esoteric ingredients that are not easily obtainable, you must provide the judges with enough product to create five cocktails.
-Entries must be submitted by end of day September 7th, 2022.
-Email austinrumsociety@gmail.com with a nicely photographed image of your garnished cocktail, your recipe with instructions on how it’s constructed, its name, and any information about the creation of your drink you’d like to share.

-Presentation-
We taste with our eyes first! How alluring or elegant does your cocktail look? Be sure to bring your garnish A-game!
-Originality-
Get Creative! What makes your drink unique or special? How does it stand apart from the rest of the pack?
-Balance-
Are all ingredients well integrated and discernible? Is it complex? Approachable? Refreshing? Is the use of Don Q evident?
A judging panel consisting of Don Q staff and select ARS members will together create all the submitted cocktails according to participants specs and rate them according to the above criteria. Highest tallied score wins. The top three finalist and grand prize winner will be announced during our Zoom session with Don Q National Brand Ambassador Milton Soto on September 19th. The recipes and photos from the top three finalists will be published on the call. Prizes will be awarded soon after.
